Financial Glossary
ISIN
A unique 12-character code that identifies an ETF or stock — like a passport number for a security. Starts with a 2-letter country code.
Explanation
International Securities Identification Number (ISO 6166). Lets you find the ETF on any platform or broker regardless of which exchange it trades on.
Technical detail
The ISIN does not change even if the ETF trades on multiple markets under different tickers. It is the canonical identifier for orders, transfers, and tax reporting.
